We are so honored you're taking the time to get to know us. We deeply admire your bravery and pray you are being supported as you plan your and your child's future. We already think the world of you, and hope you know what a privilege it would be for us to be a part of your journey.

Our story together began just after high school, when we met at a wedding in Arkansas in the middle of the summer. Jill was the maid of honor and Zack was the best man, so we had the delightfully awkward perk of walking down the aisle while trying not to sweat all over...

I’m pretty sure, “Yes, Ma’am,” was the first thing my Arkansan husband drawled to me. Born and raised in California, I was taken aback and fairly certain I was being mocked. Yet, after 17 years, my first impression of Zack—polite, helpful, and outrageously funny—hasn’t changed. Beneath his outward charm and automatically enthusiastic, “My pleasure!” (his high school Chick-fil-A training has stuck to this day), my husband is loyal, loving, and witty beyond measure.

Jillian is a talker…She talks about her day, our daughter, her students (she tutors and teaches Sunday school), her parents, her interactions while driving, the bug she almost stepped on, the time two months ago when she almost stubbed her toe. Jillian is a talker….

….and a listener. She wants to know about everyone she meets. She wants to share in the excitement, joy, sorrow, or hardships of the people she knows. She invests in the stories of the people she engages. Jillian’s ability...

We bought our first house in Colorado in 2017. This year, we were able to find a larger home in the same neighborhood for our hopefully expanding family. Jordan loves the "new house," as she calls it, and is especially excited that she gets a bigger bedroom and a playroom. We love that our home is located on an oversized lot, with an expansive yard for our two dogs and a great porch that has already become a neighborhood hang out. Zack has been hard at work building custom bookcases in the loft, a play nook for Jordan and a kitchen island for Jill. Meanwhile...

Though Jillian is from California and Zack is from Arkansas, we are both lucky to have talked our siblings into joining us in Colorado. Zack’s two siblings (an older brother and younger sister) and Jillian’s younger sister all live within thirty minutes of us. Almost every weekend, we are hanging out together in some sort of combination. We love that Jordan gets to grow up surrounded by her aunts and uncles and their stories of our childhood. We're so hopeful she'll get to share this special connection with her own sibling one day.

Jordan burst into our life in February 2020. The time between the first phone call to meeting our daughter was about four hours, and despite the whirlwind that was that day, time stood still when we first held her. A month later, COVID shuttered the world and while it was a frightening time, it was also a beautiful, sacred season of cherishing our new roles as mom and dad.

Jordan is pure sunshine. Whether she’s making up songs and dancing while Zack plays guitar, happily cooking with Jill in the kitchen, or playing scientist at her...

Our friends are an entertainingly ragtag group we’ve assembled from high school, college, work and church. We are consistently taken aback by their eagerness to support us. Our California friends flew in for Jillian’s 30th to surprise her, our Colorado crew planned an epic road trip for Zack’s latest promotion, and everyone rallied to our side to celebrate our adoption journey, including throwing a safe and socially-distanced baby shower in the middle of COVID.
